Every summer, farms carve a giant design into their corn fields that can only be seen from the sky, and that is walked at ear height, map in hand, from late August to Halloween. This guide gathers Quebec’s corn mazes and other farm mazes, with each one’s listing, dates, prices and neighbouring activities: pumpkins, petting farm, tractor ride, haunted nights.
When to go
Corn is at full height in August; in September, the maze pairs with apple and pumpkin picking; in October, several farms open at night by flashlight, or in a haunted version for older kids. Fields are muddy after rain: boots required.
Good to know
A maze takes thirty minutes to an hour and a half depending on its size and your sense of direction; farms hand out a map or a set of questions that guide you to the exit. Admission usually includes the farm’s other activities.
With kids
Give the map to the oldest child and the stopwatch to the youngest: the outing becomes a mission. Small straw or sunflower mazes suit kids from age two; the big corn maze from five with an adult, and alone with friends from ten. A snack and water in the bag, there is no stand in the middle of the field.
